Downtown Mobile is one of my favorite places to be on any occasion. Friday night was especially fun as I headed downtown with a box full of books to participate in the March LoDa Artwalk. I couldn’t have been a better evening for it.
The crowd was great! I think everyone was in a good mood having recuperated from Mardi Gras and ready for some casual strolling along Dauphin Street to watch the artists at work, peruse the fares, and listen to some really great local musicians.
The weather was just right. Not too cold, but just crisp enough to keep the blood stirring.
I had a great time meeting new readers and some that had come down say, “Hey!”
This is the best thing about living in Mobile. There is an abundance of talent and goodwill in this city and the monthly LoDa Artwalk is the perfect showcase for that. I am proud to call Mobile my adopted home, and though we do bicker over little things, (ie an Entertainment District with an unfathomable four-block eclipse – c’mon folks it should be one district) it’s still a great place to be on any night of the week.
So a big thank you to the Mobile Arts Council for the table and to all who work so hard to make our city shine.
And to the people of Mobile – y’all are awesome!
